Some updates for June 2024

Dear friends of the unreal —

The big news is that my novella JOURNEY TO MERVEILLEUX CITY is a finalist for the Foreword INDIES book award, mystery category! The fact that this avant-gardey, magically realist infused book made it into the finals is an incredible honor, and a sign that readers are ready for more unreal touches in even such a thing as a locked-room mystery. So, writer friends, keep on keeping it (slightly) unreal!

I’ll be excited to share some of my Magical Realism tricks at the Santa Barbara Writers Conference this coming week. The fun starts on June 9th and you can sign up for the whole shooting match, a day, or even one seminar. So if you’re in the area, it’s definitely worth checking out.

I’m also writing poems and trying to write some flash fiction too.
